Babies I got my film back and I loveeee it. Wanna see?

I’ve been over here working on stuff for you guys! Hint for one of them — there’s a special Substack post coming, hehe.
Tapping into my people, figuring out systems for steps, and breathing, breathing, giggling, giggling.
As a Recovering Perfectionist Silly Goose, my brain can just see the level 100. The vision comes in clear when it comes in, and apparently I’m not even aware of it getting stuck as envisioned. I know in this life exactly what I’m thrilled to give you guys. Top tier. Then it comes up against blocks and walls when planning and executing… stuck. Even as I search for alternatives. You know? So — I’m finding 10%, a step, another version entirely, a level, piece by piece. To make it happen and keep going.
I’ve made so much progress in that, and it just continues!! I LOVE YOU
SPINNING VINYLS: Bing Crosby’s songs are so of the time. Literally these were made in the 1930s. Holy shit it’s almost… 100 years ago…!?!? Anyways. Singer of now-classics like “White Christmas” in the 30s and 40s, he and his friend Frank Sinatra overlapped. They had their own tones, yet both crooners, for sure.
But you guys — this song… at the very end, for 6 seconds… are you kidding?? What a banger, and it hasn’t been sampled or used elsewhere? I will then like wow just try keeping still ~~
A guy called Johnny Mercer wrote “I'm an Old Cowhand (From the Rio Grande)”, ironically inspired when viewing actual cowboys in Georgia after leaving disparate representations, in Hollywood. ((The song was then used in a Bing Crosby movie about… a singing cowboy… um….))
WATCHING BINGEING: High Potential is entertaining, especially for nerds. I love that I don’t already know or guess the little details that move the case forward, because the whole point is the lead character is a ‘ High-Potential Intellectual ("HPI"), who basically can’t turn her brain off because she’s always taking in and remembering every little thing she’s ever learned or observed. Also, the tone is so irreverent! This shines in the imagined scenarios as she’s prospecting possibilities or sharing facts with the police team. The other characters are fleshed out and capable on their own, too. Which makes the events more interesting. Second season premiering this week!
JOY SPARKED: Here’s our beautiful inspo, bisou bisou.
^^^ All of these!!!! Like!!!! ^^^^

DRINKITY DRANK: I realized I only share matcha and tea on here… and it would be so fun to bring in trusted guest stars for more! (IYKYK: I do not, and never have drunk coffee…!)
This week, we have songwriter-singer, multihyphenate musician, matcha expert (I said it) Effy Marella! Girl has popped off on IG — she’s such a good follow, also.
Her voice just kind of transports? The musicality makes so much sense with the voice, the cadence, the lyrics. The creations are released into the world with a calm confidence (at least it seems!), because they just come out true.
Late this spring, she also gave herself a challenge, to video herself making up a new song on the spot every day for a month….! And just share it, no overthinking.
All the links/info to keep up with her for shows & drops — here. Her Spotify, below!! You can listen to “How Do You Sleep?” over and over, and the lyrics to her new single “alternate reality” kept dropping my jaw.
So, what’s her drink of choice?
“i make myself an iced matcha americano every morning, usually after i have some hot water with lemon! i like to make it super frothy. i love matcha because it wakes me up and keeps me going throughout the day without making me anxious or leading me to crash later.
i am also a mason jar girlie because i am stuck in 2014 forever
[how does she get the froth??]
hahaha it’s years of practice i’ve been making it since i was like 15”
We love you, miss Effy xx
MOVEMENT-O: There was some meSsInEsS Saturday, had energy to burn so I ran! Oh did I run
Before my sprints, I grabbed the best fresh bread, and then a man holding court outside The Whitney called me over. Decked in a fabulous red outfit, he said, “You don’t know who I am?? Eh?? I’m the Mayor of Meatpacking!” This became a chat about life in NYC over the decades, trips around the world, filmmaking and creating, etc., etc.
I love New York
Then I got my sprints in after dropping off the bread. Of course!
PROUD OF: So much. But what I’ll say is — you guys taking care of your bodies and mind, emotions etc., each time that you do. I had a funny moment this week when my eyes shuttered closed and reopened right away, and I went aloud, “Oh honey. So tired.” Lol. And I thought to this week when class gently came out of a deep pose, and I remarked: “That was with such care. Almost like you love yourself.” And everyone chuckled in surprise agreement. Like — really! That’s care. You love yourself. Of course you do. xoox.
WHAT YOU SAY / INSIDER INFO: It’s real busy and chaotic here with NYFW — lots of events and popups. ✨Megan Roup (slate of events for Sculpt Society) and Tezza (custom photo booth at Soho/Nolita border) are a couple baddies with public offerings!
Some great happs you might not’ve seen—
✨Michelle Li has such style, and is part of this closet sale on Saturday. Wrote it’s her last one for a long time! Her wardrobe is pretty singular. (Remember boo, closet sales when that’s the wardrobe = affordable, smart, happy times.)
✨cha & celebrates their 1 year anni this Sunday! Try tea from their tea bar, food, fun, etc. The people who run cha & are such a delight, making their creations on the spot and kind of custom to you? They really, care. J’recommend. Deets here.
Also they’re hosting Fenty next weekend…!?
✨Greenwich House Pottery is a haven; pottery class was pretty profound for me. Incredibly unique and useful artist creations are sold for crazy prices at their sidewalk sales. (Proceeds to their financial aid fund!) Next one: Saturday, 9/20! Deets here.
LOVE YOU!! xoxo Mads
BONUS: Also can this bear give dancing lessons to men so I have someone to play with. Free the hips ayyyy. Thanks!!
